Up for Growth National Coalition (“Up for Growth”) is a nonprofit research and education organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for working families and create communities that are accessible and affordable for all by promoting more housing close to jobs, efficient transportation, and desirable local amenities.

Up for Growth is hiring for a new position, Executive Assistant, who will report to the Operations Manager and the Executive Director. This role represents an opportunity to support a dynamic and growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization, and a related 501(c)(4) public interest advocacy organization, with access to an experienced and diverse set of coalition members. The position provides an opportunity to participate on the ground floor of shaping housing policy at the national and the state levels. Roles and Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant will be responsible providing support to our Executive Director and Operations Manager, assisting in daily office needs and managing Up For Growths general administrative activities. Some responsibilities include (but not limited to) making travel and meeting arrangements, tracking expenses, preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems. This role will also identify and work closely with external vendors to produce high quality and impactful research that supports Up for Growth’s policy and housing initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Schedules and manage meetings and appointments and manages travel itineraries. (70%)
  • Maintain lobbying records for Executive Director as well as assisting the Operations Manager with tracking expenses. (10%)
  • Coordinate executive communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with members. (15%)
  • Prepares internal and external organizational documents for staff, partners, and members (5%).
  • Maintain an organized filing system of paper and electronic documents (ongoing, as needed).
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff and members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Executive Assistant reporting directly to senior management. Experience in a law firm or legislative environment is preferred but not required.
  • Previous (heavy) scheduling experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with an ability to become familiar with firm-specific programs and software.
  • Proficiency in collaboration and delegation of duties.
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and readily to change.
